SUSTAINABILITY

NYS GROWN & CERTIFIED

New York State Grown & Certified program assures consumers that the food they are buying is local and produced to a higher standard by requiring participating producers to adopt food safety standards and enroll in an environmental management program.

SUSTAINABLE WINEGROWING

Sustainability isn’t just a goal — it guides how we farm, make wine, and care for the land. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact while protecting the ecosystems around Seneca Lake for future generations. In 2023, we were named a certified sustainable vineyard by the New York Wine & Grape Foundation.

We focus on growing grapes in ways that meet today’s needs without damaging the land or water resources that make this region special.

WHAT WE DO

Dry-farming: Our vines grow without irrigation, encouraging deeper roots and healthier soil.

Integrated Pest Management (IPM): We monitor and manage pests naturally, reducing reliance on chemicals.

Soil Health: Deep-rooted rye grass between rows improves soil structure and reduces erosion.

Beneficial Fungi: Mycorrhizae are introduced into the soil to support strong, nutrient-rich root systems.

Solar Power: Since 2015, Fox Run has operated on 100% self-generated solar energy.

Pollinator Habitat: We planted a monarch butterfly and bee sanctuary and support beehives to help local pollinators thrive.

Recycling & Waste Reduction: Glass bottles are crushed into sand to divert waste from landfills, and plastic wrap is recycled into building materials.

Café Practices: All tableware in our café is compostable.

Lake Friendly Farming: Since 2002, our practices have ensured no negative impact on Seneca Lake’s water quality.
