Your Guide to Visiting Fox Run Vineyards & Seneca Lake

We get asked all the time: "What's your best advice for a Finger Lakes trip?" After years of welcoming guests from near and far, we've got a few things we always share before someone hits the road. Consider this your insider cheat sheet.

First Things First: The Finger Lakes Are Bigger Than You Think

This might be the single most important thing we tell every visitor. When you look at a map, the lakes seem close together and easy to zip between. In reality, it can take nearly an hour to drive from one end of Seneca Lake to the other — and that's before you start hopping between lakes. Plan your day accordingly, give yourself breathing room between stops, and don't try to do it all in one afternoon.

Book Your Driver in Advance

Quick heads up: this is wine country, not the city, so ride-hailing apps can be hit or miss. If you're planning a full day of tastings, do yourself a favor and book a private driver or shuttle ahead of time. It takes all the guesswork out of getting between wineries — and best of all, it means everyone in your group gets to actually enjoy the wine!

Great Wine and Food Are Everywhere — So Let's Talk About Our Little Corner

Every lake in the Finger Lakes has something worth discovering. Rather than pretend we can cover it all, we'll focus on what we know best: the northwest shore of Seneca Lake, right here in our backyard.

Making the Most of Your Visit to Fox Run

Here's how we'd spend a day with us:

Start with a Tasting

Our tasting room opens at 10am. Pull up a spot, meet our staff, and let us walk you through our lineup. We'll help you find your favorites — no pretense, no pressure. No reservation needed for groups of 12 or fewer. (Groups of 13 or more, see below) Tastings are $10 per person and include a sample of 5 wines, we also offer self-guided flights that you can take to your own table and enjoy at your own pace!

Stay for Lunch

Our café opens at 11am and serves until 5pm (last order). Grab a glass — or a bottle — of whatever won you over in your tasting, and settle in. We have options for gluten-free and vegetarian guests, and our Chef Brud Holland and the team put out monthly specials that are absolutely worth watching for. Click for more information about our café!

Catch a Vineyard Tour

Tours depart at the top of every hour, starting at 10am, with the last tour going out at 4pm. Grab a glass of your favorite wine, find your group, and head out for a guided walk through our vineyards and winemaking facility, no reservations required. Arriving early gives our staff the best chance to take great care of you. Tours are $20 for adults, $5 for children under 15, and free for children under 5.

The tasting room stays open until 6pm, with the last tastings, bottles, and glasses served at 5:30pm — so you can get the full experience all in one visit. Click here for more information!

Friday? Book the Food & Wine Experience

If you're here on a Friday, don't miss this one. Book your tickets ahead of time for an in-depth tour, a tank sample with our winemaker, and a curated wine-pairing lunch. It's a step above — highly recommended.

Keeping an Eye on Events

We've always got something going on. Check our events calendar before your visit so you don't miss anything special. Click to view our upcoming events!

For Large Groups (13 or More)

You'll need to book a group tasting in advance. These are offered at 10am and 11:30am on select dates and include a tasting plus a shareable charcuterie board for your group. Click here to find more information!

A Few Friends Worth Visiting Nearby

After your time with us, you've still got daylight — here's where we'd send you:

More wine: Anthony Road Wine Company, Billsboro, and Cane & Vine are all just a short drive away.

Beer: Brewery Ardennes, Big Alice, and Seneca Stag are close by and worth a stop. (Brewery Ardennes and Seneca Stag have some fantastic food options as well)

Food: Smokin' Pete's is a local favorite with some of the best BBQ you will ever eat. And don't sleep on Sans Dumplings — they share a property with Kemmeter Wines, so you can grab a bite and a glass all in one stop. Date night? Try Ports Cafe, Kindred Fare, or Anorah right in Geneva!

We love this place, and we love sharing it. Come see us soon.
